Skin Congestion

Congested skin can be translated into clogged pores, whiteheads and blackheads, most frequently encountered in oily skin type. Clogged pores are clinically called comedones, or blackheads (open comedones) and whiteheads (close comedones). Congestion is often the first stage of acne and it is also known as mild acne or non-inflamatory acne. If left untreated it may evolve into more serious types of acne such as moderate and severe acne.

What is a whitehead?

A whitehead is formed when a pore is blocked with bacteria, sebum and dead skin cells causing a small white bumb to appear on the surface of the skin. It is considered a closed comedone because the skin still covers the pore and the material remains white.

What is a blackhead?

A blackhead is formed when excess sebum and dead skin cells clogg a pore however, the pore remains open allowing this material to oxidize and change color to black.
